About

Economic Accounts Research Lab

EARL translates official U.S. economic-account data into a business-facing framework designed to make the structure and performance of the economy easier to interpret, analyze, and explore.

The project connects National, Corporate, and Industry perspectives with transparent methodology, reproducible construction, downloadable data, and documented statistical-release practices.

Why EARL?

Interpret

02

Analyze

Compare economic structure and performance using validated statement lines, margins, and explicitly defined analytical measures.

National · Corporate · Industry
03

Use & interpretation

Economic analogues, not company-accounting identities

EARL is an analytical presentation of official economic-account data, not a collection or consolidation of firm-level financial statements. Business-facing labels are intended to aid interpretation; they do not assert formal equivalence to GAAP, IFRS, tax-accounting, or company-reporting definitions.

How published numbers can change

Source revision

Methodology change

EARL changed a mapping, construction, or calculation.

EARL correction

A previously published EARL output contained an error.

Published release artifacts are preserved so that changes can be distinguished rather than silently overwriting prior publication states.
